The purpose of the Special Collections Section is to foster the
recognition, preservation, and appreciation of the enduring value in our
special collections for the purposes of research, education, and
history.
The currently organized group presents the following plan for its own rules of governance.
There shall be a steering committee consisting of four members. These
shall consist of the chairperson or convener, a coconvener, and two
members at large.
The terms of office for each shall be one year (from one annual
meeting until the next). Normally the coconvener shall follow the
convener in office and without further election. The other members, as
indeed the convener also when a special election is required, shall be
elected by a simple majority of those full or retired members attending
the annual business meeting. Nominations and/or volunteers will be
accepted by the assembled group at the annual meeting or by written
request posted to the convener at least thirty days in advance of the
annual meeting.
It shall be the business of the convener to conduct the business of
the section, to issue reports, to plan a yearly budget request and, in
consultation with the other members of the steering committee, to plan
each annual meeting.
