The Indian Theological Library Association organized a one day consultation on DDC Classification system at Southern Asia Bible College, Bangalore on 17-Feb-2007. We greatly benefited. In the meeting it was proposed to organize a library training programme for those who did not have formal education in the field of library and information science.

We do not have a sufficient number of DDC schedules for use at our training programme. ITLA would like to know if anyone has extra copies of schedules later than 19th edition. ITLA will reimburse the shipping cost. If anyone is willing to send one or more sets as a donation, we would be most grateful.

I am writing you on behalf of Dr. Peter Kuzmic who is in Croatia right now preparing for the dedication of the new library and learning center at Evangelical Theological Seminary. Upon its debut, this will be the largest evangelical library serving Eastern Europe. With graduates in ministry in over 50 nations throughout the world, ETS has become a strategic center for equipping Christian leaders throughout the post-communist world.

The current library is confined to 4,500 square feet with over 22,000 volumes of literature unavailable due to cramped quarters. Upon completion of the new facility, we will have expanded to 20,000 square feet. We are receiving book donations by the thousands in Croatia. As I write this, I have just received an unexpected shipment of an additional 30 boxes of theological books.

We are in desperate need of librarians to help catalog books and get the new library in working order over the summer months. We would gladly welcome any able-bodied person with library experience to assist us. We would be very happy to provide any volunteers with food and housing during their stay. I ask you to prayerfully consider how you might be able to help.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Sincerely and gratefully,

Justin J. Evans

We have been without a trained librarian for several years. We are accredited at degree level (for 20 years through ACTEA) and have about 15-16,000 books, perhaps the largest theological library in this part of Africa. Do you have any contacts who might be interested in either long or short term help here?

Along with the obvious competence in library science and IT applications, familiarity with Africa would be helpful, but not essential. We have a Zambian woman doing her first degree in library science at present, but she won't finish for another couple of years or so, so we are not currently looking for someone to train Zambian library staff.

A missionary, a retired librarian, or someone with their own financial support would be great because we are struggling with finances owing to an unexpected sharp drop in the exchange rate (30-40%), meaning that the dollars and pounds that support students do not bring in nearly as much local currency these days.

We could probably provide housing on campus for a single person or a married couple without children, but hopefully the person could fund his/her own transportation and general living expenses."
