ATLA is pleased to offer up to five $1,000 scholarships to students from underrepresented minority populations to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign LEEP course, Theological Librarianship (LIS 590TL).

These funds are supplied by generous ATLA members who donate to the Scholarships and Grants Annual Fund.  For more information and to support this fund, click here.

Eligibility

Applicant must be American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino or Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander.

Applicant must be an ATLA member in good standing.  

Application Process

Applications are available on an ongoing basis, but applications must be received by July 1 preceding the course offering.

 Submit an email or letter containing the following information:

• Name and contact info

• Racial/ethnic identity

• Academic and work history

• Personal statement about:

1. what diversity means to you, 

2. how will you increase diversity in the field of theological librarianship and 

3. how the Theological Librarianship course will benefit your professional development.

Timeframe:

• July 15 – application deadline
• August 1 – enrollment deadline, send proof of enrollment [Advanced registration is recommended as this class does fill up quickly]
• September 1 – reimburse tuition
