College
and University Interest Group Bylaws
- Membership in the College and University Interest Group (CUIG) of
the American Theological Library Association (ATLA) is designed to
meet the needs of religious studies, theology, and philosophy
librarians working in general colleges and universities. Membership
is open to any ATLA member.
- The CUIG is governed by a steering committee composed of no fewer
than four, and no more than seven, members. Steering committee
members must be ATLA individual members.
- Each steering committee member serves a four-year term of office
with the senior member rotating off each year. Prior to the ATLA
annual conference, the steering committee solicits nominees from the
larger CUIG membership. The election occurs during the CUIG meeting
at the ATLA annual conference.
- The steering committee elects two officers from its own
membership: a chair and a secretary. Steering committee officers
serve a one-year term of office. No individual may serve more than
three consecutive terms in the same office.
The Chair:
- Chairs meetings of the CUIG and steering committee.
- Prepares the agenda for meetings of the steering committee and
CUIG.
- Serves as liaison to the Education Committee and Annual Conference
Planning Committee.
The Secretary:
- Submits a full report on the annual conference meeting and the
program of CUIG to the Director of Member Services for publication
in the ATLA Proceedings.
- Maintains the names and email addresses of steering committee
members and their terms of office.
- Prepares, circulates, retrieves, and retains sign-up sheets at the
annual CUIG meeting.
Other members of the Steering Committee:
- Assist the officers as needed or requested.
- Develop program ideas for the ATLA annual conference.
