Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, a graduate professional institution of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), invites applications for the part-time position of Archivist/Records management Librarian (part-time) of the Clifford E. Barbour Library. 

Position Summary:
The Archivist/Records Management Librarian will oversee all aspects of organizing, processing, cataloging, preserving, and providing access to library archival materials in a variety of formats using current archival principles and standards; work with the Library Director to develop appropriate priorities, policies, and procedures for the use and retention of a archival materials and institutional records both print and digital; create descriptive finding aids, MARC21 cataloging records and EAD documents; provide reference services including research assistance, presentations, copyright guidance and displays; collaborate on digital preservation projects; participate in the training of students, faculty and staff in archival resources and research methods.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have an ALA-accredited MLS. or equivalent or a graduate degree in archival studies; a minimum of two years experience in an academic archive setting normally required; familiarity with online EAD resources and archival data management software; familiarity with digitization projects; a facility for working independently and with others in a team-oriented environment; strong interpersonal and communication skills, and attention to detail are required. Theological and/or historical training is desirable with particular knowledge of American Presbyterian history.

Electronic Services Librarian

Position Summary:
The Electronic Services Librarian will overseeing all aspects of library electronic and computer services including providing support for the automated library system (Innovative Interfaces Millennium system) in coordination with the IT department ; implementation and operation of various staff databases, software and online services such as OCLC, EBSCOhost, EBSCO A-Z List, etc.; oversees and implements various public databases and online services such as ATLA RI and ATLAS, JSTOR, EBSCO databases, including electronic resources licensing and report gathering; maintenance and upkeep of the library website; meeting the automation support needs of the library including software installation and training; advising on selection of software, full-text databases, indexes and other bibliographic resources; participate in the training of students, faculty and staff in online resources and research methods. 

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have an ALA-accredited MLS. MLIS or equivalent and a history of significant electronic services experience, preferably in an academic setting; a broad knowledge of existing and emerging electronic standards; basic knowledge of cataloging preferred and experience with OCLC, EBSCO and ATLA databases; experience in religious, theological, and related resources in carious electronic formats; experience in web design and web publishing (course web pages, tutorials, etc.) and web implementation skills, familiarity with digitization projects; a facility for working in a team-oriented environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail are required. A minimum two (2) years' experience in related positions normally required. Theological training and/or experience in an academic theological library is preferred.

Position Summary:
The Head of Technical Services Librarian will organize, oversee and report on all aspects of technical services including cataloging, serials, and materials processing. Responsibilities include original and copy cataloging of print, non-print, and electronic formats in OCLC and the library’s Innovative Interfaces’ Millennium system, authority control, supervision and training of other professional and paraprofessional staff and student assistants.  

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have an ALA-accredited MLS and a history of significant cataloging experience, preferably in an academic setting, a broad knowledge of existing and emerging cataloging standards, and a facility for working in a team-oriented environment. Supervisory experience required as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills, and attention to detail. Reading knowledge of foreign languages especially German highly desirable. A minimum five (5) years' experience in related positions is normally required. Theological training and/or experience in an academic theological library is highly desirable.

EDS Collection Services Librarian

Duties and Responsibilities
Lesley University seeks a collaborative librarian for the position of EDS (Episcopal Divinity School) Collection Services Librarian. This is a half-time position with benefits. Under the daily supervision of the Head of Collection Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for original and complex copy cataloging of theology materials at the Sherrill Library, as well as oversight for copy cataloging, database holdings maintenance, and related work. S/he will supervise student staff in collection services activities. Under the direction of the EDS Senior Assistant Director, the incumbent will participate in weekly reference service and collaborate on collection development in a specific subject area. 

Required Education, Experience, and Skills
Masters Degree in Information or Library Science from a U.S. accredited graduate school; 3-4 years cataloging or copy cataloging experience; excellent oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills; creativity and adaptability; knowledge of and experience with one or more modules of a library management system. One-year experience providing reference and/or instruction in an academic library. Coursework in theology or religious studies required. Experience with Voyager ILS desirable.

Responsibilities:

Project Archivist for Eleven Months

Introduction:
The Burke Library at the Union Theological Seminary (Columbia University) seeks an experienced Archivist to process the New York Theological Seminary (NYTS) Archives, the Lindquist Collection of Native American Photographs, and related collections at the Burke Theological Library. Working under the Burke Library Director, the archivist will be responsible for arranging, describing, and preserving these archival collections.

The Burke Library, one of the largest theological libraries in the world, contains rich collections for theological study and research. With holdings of over 700,000 items, the Library is recognized as one of the premier libraries in its field, and includes extensive holdings of unique and special materials.

The mission of The Burke Library is to identify, acquire, organize, provide access to, interpret, and preserve information in the field of theology and contextually related areas of study.  The Library supports the specific instructional and research needs of Columbia University , Union Theological Seminary, and New York Theological Seminary, providing resources for the broader scholarly community in theology and related disciplines.

Position Summary:
The archivist will be responsible for the physical processing of part of the NYTS Archives, and the Lindquist Native American photographs to professional standards of arrangement and description in coordination with the Union Theological Seminary archivist, graduate student interns, other colleagues, and assistants. Additional duties include providing reference and reader services for the NYTS and other archival collections at the Burke Library, developing online exhibitions and other outreach resources related to the NYTS archives, answering reference inquiries, and providing research assistance. The incumbent will supervise students as needed.

Schedule
30 hours/ week. This is an eleven-month temporary position, with possible extension. This position is not benefits eligible.

Required Qualifications:
ALA
accredited MLS with formal course work in archives administration or an MA in archival management, and two years experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Specific Qualifications
excellent organizational skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; must be able to lift and carry heavy boxes and must be able to climb ladders and stairs; knowledge of DACS and demonstrated experience with professional standards and techniques for archival processing; demonstrated initiative, accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications
knowledge of American and New York social history; working knowledge of historical research methodology; experience with standard bibliographic tools for historical and religious studies; reading knowledge of at least one foreign language.

Head Librarian

Position Summary:
The position has overall responsibility for library policies, collections, instruction, programs, services, budget, and personnel. This basic oversight includes more particular responsibilities for:

  • Guiding educational and information technologies at the School of Theology (STH), including policies, budget, services, instruction, support, and personnel.
  • Teaching and advising students in STH degree programs and collaborating with the STH faculty to develop and provide courses to support the STH curricula.

  • Required: Masters degree in religious or theological studies required; 5-7 years of library experience required.
  • Preferred: Doctoral degree in religious or theological studies preferred; Masters of Library Science degree preferred; 1-3 years experience in library administration preferred; 4-6 years experience in collection development preferred.

Position Summary:
The Burke Library at the Union Theological Seminary (Columbia University) seeks an experienced professional to serve as the Public Services Librarian. Reporting to the Director, the incumbent will creatively develop, coordinate, and promote unmediated and mediated access to the Burke Library and its collections for Columbia, Union Theological Seminary, as well as the broader community. Additionally, the incumbent will exercise direct responsibility for providing instructional and research support for the Library’s collections and information resources, and supervise two library support staff and a number of student assistants.

The responsibilities of this position include developing and executing in-person, print, and online information literacy instruction and other library educational programs (library orientations, workshops, credit bearing courses, in-class sessions, online guides, lectures, and other community outreach programs). Furthermore, the Public Services Librarian serves as the coordinator of library access services and student assistant staffing (Circulation, Reserves, ILL, Document Delivery, and Reader Services), with collaborative provision of reference and research services. Additional management of the circulating and reference collections is also necessary. The incumbent is also responsible for the preparation and promotion of exhibitions of special collections materials.

Required Qualifications
MLIS from ALA accredited school and 2-3 years related experience (or an equivalent of education and experience). Strong organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, commitment to public services and to theological education, ability to work collaboratively with other staff in inter-departmental projects, and supervisory skills

Preferred Qualifications
Specialized knowledge in Biblical Studies or Church History; technical proficiency and interest in new technologies for teaching, learning, and content provision; teaching proficiency and experience; foreign language expertise; graduate degree in Theology/Religion.
