Linking Holdings Databases to ATLA RDB and CPLI

Access 2000 Holdings Databases and the Windows Versions of ATLA RDB and CPLI on CD-ROM

ATLA is aware of difficulties customers may encounter while attempting to link an Access holdings database to the Windows version of either ATLA RDB or CPLI on CD-ROM. The difficulty occurs when the customer is creating the holdings database using Access 2000. Access 2000 has a significantly different back-end configuration than Access 97, and customers may find that Access 2000 databases are not displayed on the ATLA RDB or CPLI citation display screens.

A solution to this problem is to convert the existing Access 2000 database to an Access 1997 database. This conversion can be performed from within Access 2000. To perform the conversion:

  1. Open the Access database you wish to convert.
  2. Point to Database Utilities from the Tools menu.
  3. Select Convert Database.
  4. Click To Prior Database Version.

This will create a copy of the database as configured by Access 97, and this database can then be properly linked to ATLA RDB or CPLI on CD-ROM.
