| Installation of Two ATLA Windows CD-ROM Applications | |
| Windows 2000 Installation | |
| August 2002 Addendum |
If the standalone or full workstation versions of both the Windows ATLA Religion Database on CD-ROM and The Catholic Periodical Literature Index on CD-ROM are installed on a single computer, both programs will use the same database for storing saved searches and search history information. Thus, searches saved within one database may be viewable from the other ATLA Windows database. If both the Windows CPLI and the Windows ATLA RDB are open simultaneously on the same machine, the search history feature in either database will show searches performed on both databases.
Installation of the Windows version of The Catholic Periodical Literature Index on CD-ROM as a network application under Windows 2000 may require the attention of an experienced systems administrator. ATLA is aware of the following difficulties associated with installing the Windows version of the CPLI on a Windows 2000 network:
User Group Policy Settings: Windows 2000 network users may have difficulty accessing the Windows CPLI once it is installed. The difficulty generally exhibits itself as the ability to access the database as a Power or Administrator group user but the inability to access the database as a User or Guest group user. This can be remedied by giving full control permissions to all CD-ROM users in the Windows or WinNT directory on the C drive of the local computer. For more information, please send an email to support@atla.com or visit the ATLA website.
The American Theological Library Association and the Catholic Library Association are aware of a data discrepancy within CPLI Book Review records. The publication year for these Book Review records displays the publication year of the book reviewed rather than the publication date of the review. As a result, the publication year within the Book Review records does not match the publication year in the journal citation within these Book Review records. The discrepancy between the publication date cited in the Year field and the publication date cited in the journal citation is interpreted as an error by the Windows software within the "Journal Search" feature of the CPLI CD-ROM. Consequently, when the journal citation for one of the Book Reviews with a publication year discrepancy is clicked, an error message is generated stating "No records match. Please change the search parameters and try again."
