Cardinal Stafford Library Assistant: Cataloging, Serials, Interlibrary Loan

Position duties include carrying out library acquisition procedures, elementary and original cataloging, entering materials in automated database, resolving problems in procedure, and assistance in file and records maintenance. The candidate will also provide lead support in managing and coordinating the print collections, user services, and volunteers. This includes problem solving, preparation of proposals for process improvements, development of serials management guidelines, and procedure updates including integrity of the serials collection, preparation for the binding of serials and for continuity of the collection; ensure the serial records are maintained in the library management system; assist the serial subscription review process. The candidate may work on special projects, as assigned.


  • Experience with Library of Congress Classification System, LC Subject Heading and Genre/Form terms, OCLC bibliographic utility
  • Familiarity with RDA and the emerging BIBFRAME/Library Reference Model
  • Experience cataloging in a theological library preferred, 2 years minimum
  • Familiarity with OCLC WorldShare Management Services preferred
  • Experience coordinating a volunteer program
  • MLS, or equivalent education and /or experience

About the Employer

St. John Vianney Theological Seminary is a Colorado nonprofit corporation comprising three divisions: 1) Priestly Formation; 2) Lay Formation which includes the Denver Catholic Biblical and Catechetical Schools; and, 3) Diaconate Formation – St. Francis School for Deacons.  These three divisions are supported by the Cardinal Stafford Library and our Kitchen staff. St. John Vianney Theological Seminary contracts with the Archdiocese of Denver for Accounting, Human Resource, Information Technologies, and, Facilities Maintenance support. Additionally, Development Services are contracted through The Catholic Foundation Alliance Group.
