Governance Committee
The Committee will typically include Board members who have attended a Policy Governance® workshop and will consist of up to four Board members. Committee members are appointed by the President of the Board to serve two-year terms on a rotating basis. The committee is to monitor the Board’s use of the Policy Governance® Model, identifying opportunities for the Board to edit the Board Policy Manual, ascertaining that the Manual follows Policy Governance® language, and assisting the Board in interpreting the Policy Governance® Model. The committee is responsible for conducting new Board member orientation. When the Board sends Board members to a Policy Governance® workshop, the Committee will alert the attendees in advance to particular issues requiring clarification and/or attention.
This committee is employed by the Board to complete their work in governing the Association using the mission, organizational ends, and executive limitations described in the Board’s Policy Manual. The Board’s Policy Manual may be accessed by logging into your My Atla web portal account and selecting Members Only Content.
