This June, Atla added journal titles on many diverse topics in three languages from six countries.
Journal titles indexed in Atla Religion Database
- Journal for the Study of Spirituality, published by Taylor & Francis, is a peer-reviewed journal which creates a unique interdisciplinary, inter-professional, and cross-cultural forum where researchers, scholars, and others engaged in the study and practices of spirituality can share and debate the research, knowledge, wisdom, and insight associated with spirituality and contemporary spirituality studies. The journal is concerned with what spirituality means, and how it is expressed, in individuals’ lives and communities and in professional practice settings; and with the impact and implications of spirituality in, and on, social policy, organizational practices and personal and professional development.
- Journal of Black Religious Thought, published by Brill, advances critical scholarship in the fields of Religious Studies – with special attention to Black religious studies, which includes and intersects, but is not limited to the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament, New Testament, Intertestamental, Quran, theology, history, ethics, practical theology, religion-science, Black hermeneutics, philosophy of religion, womanist, intersectionality, cultural studies, among others – offering African American, African, and/or African Diaspora points of view.
- 中国基督教研究 (Journal of Research for Christianity in China), published by Center for the Study of Religion and Chinese Society and Shanghai University, aims to provide a platform for scholars who study Chinese Christianity, Chinese religion and culture, promoting dialogue between these topics through academic research, and providing useful references and academic reflection for the future construction of Chinese culture. The journal focuses especially on providing an academic platform for young scholars, welcoming young scholars from different majors, disciplines, and backgrounds to conduct in-depth analysis on topics related to the construction of Chinese culture. The journal welcomes articles on different topics such as Chinese religion, Chinese culture, Chinese Christian history, Chinese theology, and Biblical studies, especially interdisciplinary, forward-looking, and exploratory academic articles, as well as academic papers on cultural dialogue and religious dialogue, and academic book reviews and reports.
- Contemporary Research of the Islamic Revolution, published by University of Tehran, is a peer-reviewed journal of the Center for Islamic Revolution Studies at the University of Tehran and publishes manuscripts in interdisciplinary fields of humanities related to the Islamic Revolution. Subjects include the philosophical intellectual foundations of the Islamic Revolution, theories of the Islamic Revolution, history of contemporary developments in Iran, fundamental rights, systematization and government jurisprudence, the results and consequences of the Islamic Revolution inside and outside the country, Islamic society and social welfare and justice, global and regional reflections of the Islamic Revolution, foreign policy and the Islamic Ummah, pathology of the achievements of the Islamic Revolution, modern Islamic civilization, and futurism of the Islamic Revolution.

Each Seelsorger features articles by DOXOLOGY’s Collegium Fellows and by special guests. There are also reviews of insightful resources on the care and cure of souls.
- Japanese Religions, published by NCC Center for the Study of Japanese Religions, publishes in order to make research results available internationally and to promote exchanges among scholars. The editorial purpose is to provide scholarly articles on Japan’s past and present religions (including current debate issues) that provide a basis for promoting interreligious dialogue between Christianity and Asia. Specialties are as follows: Japanese religions past and present, including Shinto, folk religion, Japanese Buddhist schools, new religions, Japanese Christianity and theology (including cultural issues), Japanese religious philosophy, and interreligious dialogue.
- Social Thought, published by Taylor & Francis, is the preceding title of the journal currently known as Journal of Religion & Spirituality in Social Work: Social Thought. In this journal, scholars, researchers, and practitioners examine issues of social justice and religion as they relate to the development of policy and delivery of social services. In addition to timely literature reviews, the journal presents up-to-date, in-depth, expert information on: sectarian and nonsectarian approaches to spirituality and ethics; justice and peace; philosophically oriented aspects of religion in the social services; conceptual frameworks; the philosophy of social work; and a great deal more.
- The Jewish Quarterly Review, published by University of Pennsylvania, is the oldest English-language journal in the field of Jewish studies. JQR preserves the attention to textual detail so characteristic of the journal’s early years, while encouraging scholarship in a wide range of fields and time periods. In each quarterly issue of JQR the ancient stands alongside the modern, the historical alongside the literary, the textual alongside the contextual.
