Journal titles indexed in Atla Religion Database
- Zeitschrift für Pädagogik und Theologie, published by De Gruyter, is an academic journal that addresses two target groups: firstly, scholars in all areas of religious and education studies (religious education in schools, community pedagogy, adult education, etc.) and, secondly, all other actors in practical pedagogical fields in which both religion and the relationship between theology and pedagogy play a role. Therefore, it helps not only to foster religious and pedagogical discourse in interdisciplinary, international, ecumenical, and transnational constellations, but also to forge close links between academic theory and pedagogical practice.
- Journal of Abhidharma Studies (Taihō zasshi 対法雑誌), published by Publication Committee of Journal of Abhidharma Studies, is a peer-reviewed journal that provides an academic forum for discussion of various topics related to Nikāya Buddhism, including sūtra, vinaya, abhidharma, narrative stories, the history of schools, relationships between non-Mahayana and Mahayana thought, the spread of non-Mahayana texts across Asia, and related scholarly traditions in various regions.
- Levinas Studies, published by Philosophy Documentation Center, is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to scholarly work on the innovations and implications of the school of thought of Emmanuel Levinas. It invites papers contributing to the advancement of reflection on Levinas’s thinking, in its pertinence for fields including philosophy, psychology, religious studies, theology, and the study of literature.
- Bulletin of KazNU, Religious Studies Series, published by Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, is currently the only scientific journal in Kazakhstan that specializes in the history and theories of religion and current topics in religious studies and is the first journal in Atla’s research tools from Kazakhstan. Its editorial board includes Kazakhstan’s prominent scholars in religious studies and also scholars from Great Britain, Canada, and Turkey.
- 한국무속학 (Korean Shamanism), published by Korean Shaman Society, aims to address the goal of the society to create a true center for the study of shamanism. This is a topic that has attracted a large amount of attention since its study began in earnest as part of the comprehensive survey of Korean folklore organized by the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage in the late 1960s. Today, it is widely studied in the field of folklore as well as other disciplines. 한국무속학 (Korean Shamanism) fulfills the role of a central body that helps and guides the research so it will continue to bear fruit.
- Journal of Christian Studies, published by Center for Christian Studies, fulfills the purpose of making quality scholarship accessible to the broader church. It is intended to benefit all thoughtful Christians and church leaders, scholars, and non-specialists alike. The goal is ultimately missional and the scope international. Each issue of the journal unpacks a topic or theme that is important to the church’s faith and practice in our current culture. Articles address these themes through biblical, theological, historical, and sociological perspectives, communicating rigorous scholarship in an accessible way.
- NaUKMA Research Papers in Philosophy and Religious Studies, published by National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, is a scientific peer-reviewed open-access journal that publishes original articles and research materials in the field of philosophical sciences and religious studies. This journal practices a policy of immediate open access to published content, supporting the principles of free dissemination of scientific information and the global exchange of knowledge for common societal progress.

- The Evangelical Quarterly, published by Brill, is an international, peer-reviewed journal which reflects and respectfully engages with the evangelical Christian faith. First published in 1929, it features articles on the Old and New Testaments, biblical and systematic theology, church history, pastoral theology, mission and apologetics, as well as reviews of books in these fields. Its contributors span the range from renowned experts to emerging scholars, and it serves both the academy and the church.
- The Journal of Eastern Christian Studies, published by Brill, publishes peer-reviewed essays and monographs covering the world of Eastern and Oriental Christianity. Its major interest is in historical-contextual studies and in all types of interaction in the past and present between various Christian denominations and with non-Christian religious traditions (inter- and intra-religious dialogue and conflict, “World Orthodoxy,” Christianity in the Islamic world). Within this perspective, the journal and the series welcome contributions of a (religious-) historical, social-scientific, and philological nature or combinations of these and other relevant approaches.
- Biblical Theology Bulletin, published by Sage, is a distinctive, peer-reviewed, quarterly journal containing articles and reviews written by experts in biblical and theological studies. The editors select articles that provide insights derived from critical biblical scholarship, culture-awareness, and thoughtful reflection on meanings of import for scholars of Bible and religion, religious educators, clergy, and those engaged with social studies in religion, inter-religious studies, and the praxis of biblical religion today.
- Transformation, published by Sage, is a peer-reviewed journal published quarterly on behalf of the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies. It provides to scholars and practitioners an international forum for discussion on Mission Studies, particularly focusing on the Majority World. Original papers in the following fields are welcome: Mission and Theology; Bible and Ethics; Religions and Culture; Faith Based Development. The journal offers considered analysis and reflection on a range of issues affecting the world today, including economics, development, violence, family life and other ethical issues.
