Applications Open Again for an Atla Open Educational Resources Grant

We are reopening applications for the Atla OER Grant Program for 2021 to support the creation of open education resources (OER) for courses in theology and religious studies.
The goal of the Atla OER Grant Program is to encourage experimentation and innovation in finding new and potentially better and less costly ways to deliver learning materials to theological and religious studies students through OER. Under this program, Atla will award grants, as detailed on the OER Grant Program page, to project teams composed of at least one librarian and one teaching faculty or instructor from Atla member institutions who seek to greatly reduce or remove student course material costs through replacement of commercially available textbooks and ancillary course materials. Project teams should plan to implement the resources created during the 2023-2024 academic year in the course listed on their application form. Proposals to create resources to be implemented during the 2024-2025 academic year may also be considered.
Two webinars have been presented on the OER Grant Program. You may view either of these recordings (May 2021 and August 2020) but be mindful that the dates have changed and you should refer to this website for due dates for this round of funding. Additionally, a panel of the 2020 OER Grant awardees will present a webinar on their experiences on October 7, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. CT.
Application Process
Before completing an application, interested parties are strongly encouraged to review the grant program parameters and requirements and also to preview the application questions and accompanying explanations of how to respond to the narrative portion of the application. The application form is available here and must be completed and submitted by 5:00 p.m. CT on January 7, 2022, for full consideration. The Atla Scholarly Communication and Digital Initiatives Committee will review all applications and notify applicants of their status by January 28, 2022.
