Atla Announces New Digitization Grant Program 

Atla member institutions are invited to apply for a digitization grant through our new program. The Atla Digitization Grant Program supports member efforts to digitize and describe their special collections and archives for wider access and use. By facilitating digitization of its members’ unique and significant collections in religion and theology, Atla serves its Organizational Ends by promoting access to quality academic and professional resources as well as providing librarians and information professionals opportunities to develop their technical and digital skills. Further, through this program, Atla seeks to build member capacity for sustained digitization work. 

Grants are available for both new and continuing digitization projects that support the study, teaching, or research of religion and theology. Priority will be given to applications that propose digitization of materials aimed at uncovering histories of underrepresented or racialized communities or histories of individuals who have experienced marginalization.  

Applications are due February 28, 2022, and will be reviewed by the Atla Scholarly Communication and Digital Initiatives Committee.  Institutions that are new to digitization work are encouraged to request a consultation with Atla staff prior to completing their application.
