A valuable part of Atla Annual is connecting with colleagues, making new acquaintances, and seeing old friends. While we may not be able to meet in person this year, we are providing opportunities for conference attendees to meet one another, screen to screen.
We will be hosting three social gatherings after each day’s programming on the virtual platform, Remo. We have several planned activities, a friendly competition, and opportunities for networking. Join us for one or all!
Wednesday’s Social Hour (June 16, 3:45 pm – 4:30 pm CDT) will begin with a quick overview of the Remo platform, acquainting attendees with the platform, and then there will be time for open socializing.
Thursday’s Social Hour (June 17, 4:15 pm – 5:00 pm CDT) will include a friendly competition and a chance to win prizes, but most importantly, make new connections.
Friday’s Social Hour (June 18, 3:45 pm – 4:30 pm CDT) will conclude with speed networking and open conversation.
All of these events are optional.
What To Expect
If you have never used Remo before, you’ll be asked to create an account when you go to join an event. Get ahead of the game by creating an account now, filling out your profile, and adding a photo so people can find you more easily. While you’re at it, test your system’s audio and video to ensure your computer system can communicate with Remo.
There are two modes in Remo – Presentation Mode, in which you are an audience member, and Conversation Mode, where you will be with a small group of up to eight people. We will use a mix of both modes over the three events.
Upon joining the room, you’ll automatically be placed at a table. Turn on your camera and microphone to begin conversing with others at the table. If you do not enable your camera and microphone, you’ll still be able to observe what others are saying. If no one turns on their camera and microphone, the table will be silent.
There are three chat features – a General Chat with the entire room, a Table Chat with your group, or send a private message to another attendee. Want a private conversation with a colleague? Send them an individual chat to meet you on the top floor for a quiet conversation away from the group, then click on the elevator menu to move to the top floor.
Need a break? Look on the seating map for a table without people around it and click on the table you wish to join. You may need to head to a higher floor to find an empty table.
