Collaboration and Community: Creating the Atla Digital Library for Collecting and Connecting in Religion and Theology

When the CNI (Coalition for Network Information) Spring Membership meeting was moved from the in-person event in San Diego to an online event, Scholarly Communication and Digital Projects Manager Christine Fruin and Notch8 Client Liaison Kevin Kochanski offered their presentation on the Atla Digital Library, entitled “Collaboration and Community: Creating the Atla Digital Library for Collecting and Connecting in Religion and Theology,” via webinar to CNI members. About the Presentation

During this presentation, Christine and Kevin review the reasons and purpose behind the development of the Atla Digital Library and how it serves Atla members, as well as how Atla’s collaboration with Notch8 resulted in the creation of a variety of metadata importers to facilitate ingest of metadata from participating libraries. The presentation also discusses the implementation of an IIIF viewer to support the CLIR funded project of the Christ Church Preservation Trust.

During this presentation, viewers will learn more about this unique digital library configuration and how the partnership with Notch8 supports open infrastructure through the contribution of code and other resources back to a software community.
