European Academy of Religion 2020 Virtual Conference

The virtual conference season is upon us. From June 21-25, Atla participated in the European Academy of Religion’s (EuARe) first virtual conference.

The European Academy of Religion (EuARe) is a research initiative launched under the high patronage of the European Parliament which offers an exchange platform to scholars, universities, centers, research infrastructures, scientific journals, and publishers coming from Europe and the surrounding regions.

Originally scheduled for in-person participation in Bologna, Atla staff members Margot Lyon and Cristina Ochoa coordinated with the EuARe team to help ensure smooth participation in this reimagined online event, involving several other publishers, associations, and individual scholars across dozens of time zones.

As a part of the virtual publishers’ area, Atla’s participation in the EuARe 2020 Virtual Conference included Atla’s 2020 Research Tools Presentation, which covers the latest updates and strategic initiatives related to Atla’s research tools.

Despite current constraints, the Atla team wanted to ensure they would be able to continue to cultivate relationships throughout the global religion and theology scholarship community. The team also joined in on several sessions throughout the four-day conference, including:

• Hallowed be thy Name: Power and Glory in Religious Imagination
• Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Secular World: From the 1870s to the Present
• Islam, Politics, and Society in Germany
