Atla Open Press Announces Open Access Reprint, ‘The Hispanic Evangelical Church in the United States’

The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) has granted Atla permission to make available The Hispanic Evangelical Church in the United States as an open access reprint. NHCLC hopes the open access availability of this volume will contribute to a greater understanding of Hispanic Evangelical Churches and their diverse constituency. 

Daniel Flores, Director of the NHCLC Scholars and Director of the Cook Library and Assistant Professor of Theology at Western Theological Seminary, shares, “The publication of The Hispanic Evangelical Church in the United States reflects the lifelong dream of the late Dr. Jesse Miranda to unite and educate Hispanic evangelicals.” Dr. Miranda first created Alianza de Ministerios Evangélicos Nacionales (AMEN) to address the leadership vacuum dividing Hispanic Evangelicals. Drawing on the examples of the Civil Rights Movement and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, AMEN was re-invented as the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC). Today, the NHCLC serves over 40,000 Evangelical congregations in the United States by providing leadership, networking, fellowship, strategic partnerships, and public policy advocacy platforms to its seven directives: Life, Family, Great Commission, Stewardship, Education, Youth, and Justice.

The publication of 'The Hispanic Evangelical Church in the United States' reflects the lifelong dream of the late Dr. Jesse Miranda to unite and educate Hispanic evangelicals.

At the request of the NHCLC, Dr. Samuel Pagán organized a unique cadre of thirteen academics from different disciplines, ethnicities, denominations, and political viewpoints to author the chapters comprising this volume. Their contributions cover the areas of the history, ministry, and challenges of the Hispanic evangelical church in the United States.
