Join us on October 23, from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm CST for a webinar titled “Digitizing the Deaf Catholic Archive.”
The Deaf Catholic Archives (DCA) provides insight into the history of Deaf culture as well as an understanding of how Deaf Catholics practice their faith (culturally) in new ways, when traditional methods are insufficient, through a wide variety of materials including newsletters, periodicals, documents, scrapbooks and ephemera from a variety of organizations across the world. The Archives and Distinctive Collections of the College of the Holy Cross recently completed a project to digitize and to publish materials from the DCA. This project was supported by a Digitizing Hidden Collections grant from the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR). The grant program is made possible by funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
The webinar will discuss the history and importance of the DCA, the CLIR grant application process, and an overview of how the project was structured and its workflows. It will conclude with a brief reflection of lessons learned.
