Atla is a membership association of librarians and information professionals, and a producer of research tools, committed to advancing the study of religion and theology.
Atla works to promote worldwide scholarly communication in religion and theology by advancing the work of libraries and related information providers.
Atla’s membership includes more than 800 individuals and libraries at academic institutions from diverse religious traditions and backgrounds.
Atla is governed by an elected board of directors, including four long-standing Board committees and one short-term committee all mandated by the Board’s Policy Manual.
Atla’s committees, councils, and task forces work to achieve Atla’s Mission and Organizational Ends. They are appointed by the Executive Director and are an integral part of the Association.
The purpose of the Association shall be to bring its members into closer working relations with each other, to support, improve, and interpret theological and religious libraries and librarianship, and to cooperate with organizations having similar purposes.

As outlined by the By-Laws of TTLA, full membership is open to persons in the state of Tennessee and the states bordering Tennessee who are engaged in library or bibliographic work in theological or religious fields. Full members enjoy all rights and privileges accorded to any member of the Association. Upon retirement, a full member shall be exempt from payment of dues.
Associate members must be interested in or associated with the work of theological and religious libraries and are interested in promoting the purposes of the Association are eligible for associate membership. Associate members are eligible to serve as members of committees and have voice without vote in the affairs of the Association.
Student Members must be enrolled full time in a library school or other institution of higher education and are interested in promoting the purposes of the Association are eligible for student membership. Student members have voice without vote in the affairs of the Association.
Dues: Annual dues for each category of membership are $10.00 for full members, $2.00 for associate members, $1.00 for student members, and $25.00 for institutional members. Dues are payable on or before November 1.
Any member who has not paid annual dues by January 1 shall be dropped from membership.
