Are you new to copyright or want a refresher on some of the basics of copyright law? This presentation will provide an overview of copyright protections in the United States: what is protected; how long does copyright protection last including determining whether a work is in the public domain; and how does an author or creator “get” a copyright. Copyright doctrines important for libraries and institutions of higher education including the Work for Hire and First Sale doctrines will also briefly be covered.
